So once again, Worst Movie Trailer Ever.

Remember the movies EdTV and The Truman Show? In those movies, you got a first-hand look at living life in the public eye. Well, move over Jim Carrey…because now there is Justin.TV. For just over 16 days (and counting), Justin has broadcast his life over the Internet with a first-person perspective. Wearing a camera on his head, we see all of Justin’s day-to-day activities including those that we don’t really want to see. Check out the site…it’s gained national media attention in a short time and is worth a look.

Justin’s site also has it’s own blog component. To be honest, the premise of the site is interesting, but anyone that has so much time on their hands as to comment on where they’re from “word up to canada, hola soy de argentina” or that they just “pooped themselves” needs to really get a life.

This Valleywag post has a very detailed description of Justin.TV and a similar site. The level of knowledge and detail provided is quite impressive, and clearly these Valleywag guys know what they’re talking about.

Also check out this interview with Nick Douglas of Look Shiny, a Justin.TV-a-holic. Nick chats up Justin and gets some great sound bites, though it sounds like some other chick is not on board at all. She’s a real buzz kill. I wonder who she is. Anyone know?

The Extra Point Ownership group is putting together a bid to buy The Chicago Cubs with a locally owned citizen ownership group.  Research is key to best understand sports franchises. 

ESPN and the Associate Press report the Chicago Cubs could be worth $600 million.

Here is an out of date page on sports franchise values from a few years ago.  And another on stadium naming rights and fees, of which you will note the Cubs are not listed, leaving potential value on the table. 

I would like to formally announce the intent of The Extra Point Ownership Group to buy the Cubs. Our plan is simple, we would like to see the team owned and operated in a similar manner to the Green Bay Packers, by local citizens. This is your chance to own one of the most storied franchises in all of sports.

Today Sam Zell, new owner of the Tribune announced due to his minority ownership of the Chicago White Sox and recent agreement to purchase the Tribune, he would be selling The Chicago Cubs.

I would say I have probably filled out about 100 NCAA brackets in my lifetime, and I think one time I had 31 out of 32 first round games. I do remember being pretty excited that time. If you believe the hype that the title of this article mentions stop reading now.  There is no perfect system.  I sometimes think there isn’t even a good system even though I have only lost 3 games with 24 played as write this.  Our friends over at Techlife have a great article on beating your office pool, notice how we stole their image. (Shhhhh.)

After you read it, and follow all the links, tell us how well you did.  My guess is that the only way to get the perfect bracket is fill it out on April 2nd. Hmmm, that’s a great idea. Perfection everytime.

OK, we will sart with the obvious.

> No #1 or #2 seeds will lose in the 1st round

> Since the tourney expanded to 64 teams, no #1 seed has lost in the 2nd round in odd-numbered years, while it has happened in every even-numbered year (except for 2006).  Therefore, expect all of the #1’s to be playing next week.

> Based on history, one or two out of the eight #3 and #4 seeds will lose.  Of course, picking which ones is the tough part (although I say watch for Maryland, Virginia, and Pittsburgh to struggle and one of those 3 will go down).

> In the bank guarantee - at least one #5 will lose.  I say Virginia Tech and USC are the weakest sisters among the #5’s

> #6 vs. #11 games are not considered big upsets anymore (although historically the #6 seeds have won 69%).  Again, one of them will lose - and I would say 90% of America is hoping it is Duke!

> #7 vs. #10 games are and even 60/40 split.  I will give you a lock guarantee - a #7 or #10 will beat a #2 this weekend.  I say Memphis is the #2 to look for the upset special. 

> #9 seeds win more than 50% of the time in the 1st round, so look for at least MSU and Xavier to move on, and possibly Villanova too (although all will lose in the 2nd round to the #1 seeds)

And, here are some other fearless predictions to make watching a little more fun. 

> One of the first 3 games on Thursday will be an incredible game, making you realize, once again, why the NCAA Tournament is the coolest invention in the history of sports!

> There will be at least 2 OT games on Thursday or Friday, and somehow you will end up rooting for a team like Wright State like your families’ lives depend on it.

You only have a couple hours to start making that cough sound real - try snorting some Tabasco sauce - it will make you sound like hell, and your eyes will be al watery and red - your boss will basically make you go home!
